Baghdadi remained unnoticed for most of his leadership, but when he took office, the US Security Department offered a $25 million reward to anybody who could apprehend him.
Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi was an Iraqi jihadist who rose from obscurity to become the Islamic State’s leader and the “caliph” of all Muslims. While Baghdadi committed suicide after being ambushed by US Special Forces, he had been a target for the US for the longest time and had been targeted by foreign security forces. Baghdadi remained unnoticed for most of his leadership, but when he took office, the US Security Department offered a $25 million reward to anybody who could apprehend him. This was the exact amount set for former Al Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden.
