Globally, 300 million jobs could be impacted by generative AI, which can produce material in response to user commands. Industries like finance, media, and legal services are most vulnerable, while manufacturing and agriculture are least vulnerable.

Generative AI, which can create text and other content in response to user prompts, has gained popularity since the launch of OpenAI’s ChatGPT. A report by Goldman Sachs estimates that generative AI could affect around 300 million jobs globally, with advanced economies being more impacted. The report also predicts that around a quarter of all jobs could be performed by AI entirely. Educated white-collar workers earning up to $80,000 a year are the most likely to be affected. The finance and banking, media and marketing, and legal services sectors are the most exposed, while agriculture and manufacturing are the least exposed to generative AI.
