What will NATO do if its members are exposed to radiation from Zaporizhzhia? 

The head of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.), has cautioned that if Russia were to strike Ukraine’s nuclear plans, the repercussions may spread to Poland, a NATO member, invoking NATO’s collective defense concept Article 5. Recent Russian attacks on and near Zaporizhzhia, Europe’s largest nuclear power plant, have sparked concern over the likelihood of a nuclear disaster, whether caused intentionally or by “accident.” From Russia’s perspective, such a “accident” is an effective play because it achieves a similar result to using a tactical nuclear weapon while having the advantage of plausible deniability.
