The International Defense Exhibition (IDEX) and its naval version NAVDEX are set to begin in Abu Dhabi with the largest-ever edition, featuring more countries and companies than ever before, including eight new nations.
The 16th edition of the biennial IDEX will showcase 65 represented countries and expects 250 official delegations, a growth rate of 191 percent compared to 2021. The defense industry’s focus on drones and counter-drone tech, air defense systems, high energy laser, robotics, cybersecurity platforms, maritime security systems, and secure communications will be driving the conversations at the show. IDEX will launch IDEX Next_Gen, a space dedicated to showcasing startup’s cutting-edge tech in the defense and naval sector. UAE’s defense conglomerate EDGE Group will exhibit 100 different technologies, and there will be an “Innovation Trail” and “Defense Through the Decades” area. Maj. Gen. Staff Pilot Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei said the largest-ever IDEX is a testament to the strategic position enjoyed by these events and their role in shaping the features and future of the defense industries sector
