A one-of-a-kind repository for military history will be the National Medal of Honor Museum.
The 3,500 US soldiers who have received the medal will be commemorated in exhibitions, archives, and memorabilia in the 100,000 square foot museum in Arlington, Texas. The medal is the highest award given by the country for bravery in battle. Five spaces within the structure will be set aside to honor Medal of Honor recipients from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard. The main gallery will be situated beneath a 25,000 square foot steel slab that would appear to be hovering in midair in a central plaza. It will have five pillars to sustain it. The Dallas Cowboys and Black Rifle Coffee are corporate sponsors of the museum. Six Medal of Honor recipients, including David Bellavia, Patrick Brady, and Britt Slabinski, are also on the museum’s board of directors, along with more than a dozen well-known businesses.
