What Do We Need To Know About Mass Shooting Preventative measures?
Reduce the frequency of mass shootings; lessen the number of injuries and fatalities when shootings do occur; and mitigate the immediate and long-term harm done to those affected by mass shootings. These three broad objectives might be included in an integrated policy framework that could reduce the harm caused by mass shootings. In order to establish and assess integrated policy frameworks that prevent mass shootings and lessen the harm they cause, national, state, and local governments can expand on recently passed federal law by having a better understanding of the breadth and depth of these negative impacts. A recent study on how mass shootings affect community well-being is reviewed by Aparna Soni and Erdal Tekin in a Health Affairs Health Policy Brief.
