An indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract worth up to $325 million over five years has been given to Viasat Inc. (NASDAQ: VSAT) to support the U.S. Command for Special Operations (SOCOM). A $350 million sole-source IDIQ contract given to Viasat in 2017 was extended through this IDIQ.
As part of the contract, Viasat will keep supplying Special Operations Forces with cutting-edge mission tools, services, and support to maintain and enhance their situational awareness, integration, terrestrial networking, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR), tactical satellite communications, information assurance, and network management capabilities. The IDIQ contract vehicle was designed with flexibility in mind to provide the necessary evolution and adaptation to shift with quick technological advancements and the changing mission requirements of SOCOM units.
