USAF Special Operations Squadron receives first CV-22 with nacelle improvement modifications | Defence-Blog

Must Read

The Air Force announced Airmen with the 20th Special Operations Squadron have received the first CV-22 Osprey with improved nacelle modifications. Airmen will begin familiarizing themselves with the changes the Air Force says will reduce required maintenance and increase availability and flying hours. The Osprey is an extremely versatile aircraft with the ability to take off vertically or on a short runway. It can function like a helicopter but has better speed and range than other rotary wing aircraft making it a favorite for long-range infiltration, exfiltration, and personnel recovery missions. The first operational CV-22 was delivered to AFSOC in 2007 and first saw action in 2009.
