Exercises involving 1,500 sailors and Marines in Greece cause people to scramble.
The amphibious dock transport ship USS Arlington of the San Antonio-class spent the month of May in Greece with Marines from the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit. Over three days, more than 1,500 sailors and Marines left their imprint on the Greek city of Alexandroupoli. They consumed all of the eggs, all of the beef, and wore out every tattoo artist in town. Approximately 25,000 eggs may have been destroyed in a few days on the Greek island of Alexandroupoli, leaving inhabitants rushing to get their own. In 2018, Marines participating in a NATO drill in Iceland consumed all of Reykjavik’s beer in a single weekend. If consuming every single egg in Greece is Marine Corps doctrine, then the Force Design 2030 is already a success.
