Two US Army helicopters carrying nine troops crashed during a training mission in Kentucky, resulting in the death of all personnel, and an investigation is ongoing. 

Nine US troops died after two US Army helicopters crashed during a training mission in Kentucky. The crash involved the 101st Airborne Division and occurred near the Fort Campbell military base on Wednesday night. All nine troops were wearing night-vision goggles at the time. It is uncertain what caused the crash, and an investigation is underway. The helicopters were carrying five and four people, respectively, and were practicing a “multi-ship formation” and medical evacuation drills. The 101st Airborne Division is the Army’s only air assault division and has been deployed to conflict zones around the world.
