The origins of the AN/M2 .50-cal date back to 1917 in John M. Browning’s model of the .30-cal. machine gun. It entered service in the year 1923 but really made its mark in 1941 up until 1945 when it fired its final shots. The machine gun served on land, air, and sea and was seen in all major theater operations around the world.
