The Ukrainian Special Operations Forces (SSO) reported the execution of a special operation codenamed “Hoverla” aimed at seizing a Russian stronghold positioned on a commanding height. The operation was detailed in a report shared on Telegram, emphasizing the strategic importance of the location which had been under Russian control for several months.
The operation involved meticulous planning and preparation, in collaboration with units of the Defense Forces. It commenced with the SSO units advancing under the cover of fire support, electronic warfare (EW), and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This approach facilitated the successful engagement and subsequent expulsion of Russian forces from the stronghold.
During the assault, the Ukrainian forces employed a combination of direct fire, EW to suppress enemy drones, and specialized munitions, including thermobaric grenades and “Bumblebee” flamethrowers. UAV reconnaissance played a crucial role in identifying enemy positions and movements, allowing for targeted assaults.
The operation concluded with the capture of two Russian paratroopers and the full clearance and control of the stronghold by Ukrainian forces.
