The conflict in eastern Ukraine continues to simmer, with periodic flare-ups resulting in casualties on both sides. However, recent reports suggest that Ukrainian forces have achieved a significant victory in the Donetsk Oblast, thanks to a joint operation between the Special Operations Forces (SOF) of Ukraine and the 72nd Separate Mechanised Brigade.
According to a statement released by the SOF’s press service, Ukrainian soldiers managed to destroy Russian equipment and capture two Russian servicemen in the area of Vuhledar. The operation was carried out with the help of intelligence data, which had revealed that the Russians were planning to launch an offensive with a tank unit.
The Ukrainian forces managed to destroy an upgraded Russian T-80 tank before it could reach its intended firing position, and also captured two members of the tank crew. The SOF provided the prisoners with medical care and took them away from the front line.
The video showed the destruction of Russian equipment on various fronts, and the press service of the SOF revealed that during the entire full-scale war, Russia had lost 3,213 tanks. The cost of each tank lost believed to be in the range of $3 – $6 Million.
The significance of this victory cannot be overstated, as it shows that the Ukrainian forces are capable of taking the fight to the Russians and thwarting their offensive plans. It also underscores the importance of intelligence gathering and joint operations, which can help tip the balance in favor of the Ukrainian forces.
While the conflict in eastern Ukraine continues to rage on, this recent victory is a cause for optimism and demonstrates that the Ukrainian forces have the determination and skill to take the fight to the Russians.
