The Ukrainian Varta 2 armored vehicle has entered state testing, showcasing its stability and advanced combat capabilities in preparation for potential deployment by the Ukrainian Defense Forces. Developed by the Ukrainian Armor company, this 14-ton armored vehicle aims to reinforce Ukraine’s defense technology with locally developed equipment, replacing former Belarusian components with Ukrainian and other international alternatives.
The vehicle, which was first presented to the public in early September 2024 at the MSPO-2024 defense exhibition in Poland, features the “SICH” combat module, an advanced Ukrainian design introduced for defense force vehicles in early 2024.

The module includes a 30 mm ZTM-1 automatic cannon (a replica of the 2A72), an AG-30 grenade launcher, and a 7.62 mm PKT machine gun, all of which can be remotely operated from a control panel inside the vehicle.
The SICH module boasts dual-axis stabilization, a thermal imaging sighting channel, and day-night firing capabilities, ensuring accurate fire even during high-speed maneuvers. Test footage from early November shows the Varta 2 maintaining stability during lateral firing with the 30 mm cannon, a key advantage in active combat scenarios.
With the integration of local and allied technology, Ukraine aims to respond effectively to emerging threats on the battlefield. The Ukrainian Armor expects the vehicle to enter service following successful completion of state trials.
