The Ukrainian military is in a precarious position owing to a lack of artillery ammunition.
The Ukrainian armed forces suffer from a severe lack of artillery ammunition, hindering their ability to oppose Russian attacks. Russian artillery groups may spend as many rounds as their Ukrainian opponents. It has turned into a battle of attrition, with both sides using drones to locate artillery targets. Ukraine has almost exhausted its supply of ammunition and is already using NATO-standard 155-caliber rounds. Ukraine is running out of ammo for outdated weaponry of Russian design.
The West is arming the Ukrainians with more modern weaponry, such as the 155mm M777 howitzer manufactured in the United States. However, both the training and implementation of these new technologies require time.
