Ukraine is creating the world’s first naval drone fleet. It will be funded through United24 | The Odessa Journal

A campaign to raise money for a fleet of naval drones was launched by the United24 fundraising platform, which was started by the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.

Its major duty is to defend peaceful cities and the maritime region of Ukrainian waters from cruise missiles fired by Russian forces from ships. The fleet will also assist in clearing the path for grain-transporting civilian ships from the entire world. More than 4,500 missiles have been fired towards Ukraine by the Russian military since February 24. A launch from the water was used for every fifth of them. After the seizure of Crimea in 2014, the Ukrainian fleet lost 80% of its ships, leaving Ukraine with nothing with which to counteract the enemy. However, the first naval attack in history by unmanned means was conducted only on October 29, 2022. The Russian fleet was attacked in Sevastopol by naval drones. Three Russian Federation ships were attacked, including the flagship of Admiral Makarov, which shows Russia no longer has a clear maritime advantage. One of these devices costs UAH 10,000,000. A drone with an autopilot system, video subsystems with night vision, special communication shielded from enemy electronic warfare gear, backup communication modules, a combat unit, a ground autonomous control station, transportation and storage systems, and a data processing center are all included in the price.
