Special Operations Forces from the U.S. Africa Command host a medical civic action program in Ghana. Between August 31 and September 1, 2022.
U.S. Army Civil Affairs personnel from Special Operations Command Africa organized a medical civic action program with Ghanaian soldiers from the 6th Infantry Battalion in Yendi, Ghana. Over the course of the two-day MEDCAP, the team oversaw the care of almost 1,000 patients. The 91st Civil Affairs Battalion of the U.S. Army and Ghanaian soldiers provided a variety of medical treatments to a wide range of patients, including infants and the elderly. The team administered diagnostic procedures, performed physical exams, and wrote prescriptions for medications. Patients received eye tests, and if necessary, corrective lenses. Additionally, the group provided anti-malaria medicines to affected patients. MEDCAPs serve as temporary field clinics to provide limited medical care to the local population.
