The government of Somalia claims to have killed more than 130 members of the al-Shabab jihadist group, including its top commanders.
It claims that a joint operation was conducted with the assistance of international allies of Somalia, including the US military. The Islamic State organization, which has a negligible presence in the nation, has also lost significant amounts of territory as a result of an operation run by pro-government forces during the past six months. the Somalian government has provided information that suggests al-Shabab suffered a substantial defeat. Bilal al-Sudani took a break from the al-Qaeda-affiliated al-Shabab a number of years ago, and he has since played a significant role in efforts to increase the Islamic State group’s presence in other regions of the continent, notably Mozambique and the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.
