Russian Soldiers Flee Ukraine’s Battlefield and Return Home
Soldiers from South Ossetia’s separatist state, which depends heavily on Russian military assistance, claim they abandoned a mission to “protect Russia” in Ukraine due to the Russian military’s state of disarray. They left due to malfunctioning equipment, a lack of leadership and intelligence, and brainless tactics. According to one soldier, only three tanks were shot, and there was no command staff. Soldiers in Ukraine told the BBC’s Vladimir Bibilov that their leader “disappeared” whenever battle erupted, leaving his soldiers with little or no command and malfunctioning equipment. Another soldier said that one of his injured friends was not receiving medical attention in Russian-occupied Donetsk. He claims physicians are pursuing him just for financial gain and are not even coming to visit him.
