Two weeks into the invasion Russia’s haphazard information war effort is continuing along. Russia and Ukraine’s foreign ministers sat down across from each other in Turkey on Thursday in an attempt to bring the sides closer to some semblance of resolution. One of the main Ukrainian goals was agreeing to a 24-hour ceasefire but Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov flatly refused. Something that did materialize from the meeting was a set of outrageous claims from the Russian side including that Ukrainian researchers, at the behest of the US, were working on a bioweapon involving migratory birds and bats supposedly capable of infecting particular ethnic groups. They also denied bombing a maternity hospital in Mauripol, a story that has been widely fact checked.
