The actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s strength and conditioning coach has revealed some of the challenging routines that helped him sculpt a superhuman body for his most recent movie, Black Adam.
Johnson’s arm, shoulder, back, and chest workouts were drip-fed to fans over the course of two weeks via Instagram by trainer and professional bodybuilder Dave Rienzi(opens in new tab), who finished off this feast of swole with a bonus leg workout. For more than ten years, Rienzi has served as Johnson’s coach. He stated that his difficult task was to “push The Rock’s already iconic body to new heights for the greatest movie role of his career.” Johnson’s presence in the movie proves he was successful. He described his transformation as “one of the most grueling, intense, and demanding commitments of my entire career” and credited Rienzi with finding the ideal mixture of “health, wellness, balance, diet, discipline, and iron” over the course of a year in order to achieve the superhero physique and assist Black Adam in rocketing to the top of the US box office. Before starting the first exercise, Rienzi describes how Johnson’s preparation for the movie evolved over time. Johnson’s training was divided into four phases over the course of the twelve months leading up to and during filming, as Rienzi explains.
