Alan Adler, the inventor of the AeroPress coffee maker, which some say produces the world’s best coffee, had previously found success as the designer of the Frisbee.
In the 1970s, Adler had sought to make a flying disc that was easy for the average person to throw with very little effort, leading to the creation of the Skyro. After taking the Skyro to Parker Brothers, Adler had custom prototype molds made to line the edges with soft rubber, in order to make it less hard for recreational use. The company ultimately bought the rights to the invention, which sold around a million units. However, it was ultimately returned to Adler in the 1980s. Later, Adler was inspired to design a coffee maker, leading to the creation of AeroPress in 2005. The device has become popular due to its ease of use and cleaning, and its ability to make a high-quality cup of coffee.
