Are employees prepared to take a significant step farther into the digital sphere after investing much of the last two years confined in group video meetings? Microsoft announced plans this week to introduce the 250 million users of its Teams program to the metaverse, a more realistic virtual reality. Its decision occurred days after Facebook rebranded to Meta to signify a larger business interest in digital environments, and it reflected Facebook’s own vision for virtual reality meetings. Users will be able to construct avatars, or animated drawings of themselves, that can roam freely across virtual worlds, according to both businesses.
