The Amniyat is Al-covert Shabaab’s intelligence and security division. There are between 500 and 1000 Amniyat people.
The group is in charge of Al-counterintelligence, Shabaab’s intelligence collection, covert operations, and assault preparation. The Amniyat answer directly to Ahmad Umar, the current emir of Al-Shabaab. Because of the Amniyat’s strength and influence, Al-Shabaab would not exist if it did not. Within the Al-Shabaab organization, the Amniyat is unquestionably the most powerful faction. Nearly every day, the Amniyat continue to plan terrorist acts in Somalia and the surrounding area. This achievement is expected to continue because the funds going to the Amniyat organization offset any difficulties they may have.
