The Air Force gives a green light for the KC-46 to start limited refueling operations | Defense News

Must Read

The Air Force has cleared the Boeing KC-46 tanker’s centerline drogue system for a limited mission, authorizing the aircraft to be assigned to routine refueling tasks that follow certain rules. The order was signed off on by the head of Air Mobility Command, Gen. Jacqueline Van Ovost, on July 9, the Air Force said in a press release on Monday. According to the military, continuing testing has shown that the KC-46 can be employed for probe and drogue refueling missions safely and efficiently. Due to unsolved technical issues, boom air refueling missions are still limited to testing, drills, and familiarization missions.
