Here’s a sobering fact for you: According to the CDC, up to 40% of all deaths in the United States might be avoided. Unintended harms to heart disease are among the causes. Even more frightening is the fact that this number is expected to rise in the future. Even if we live to be old, we may have to deal with diseases that drastically diminish the quality of our lives. What is the reason for this? Our routines. Our primarily sedentary lives, along with increased pollution and meals high in sugar and processed foods, are jeopardizing the quality of our golden years (assuming we ever reach them), a fate that most of us would prefer to avoid. After all, what good is it to live to a ripe old age if everything hurts and you can’t remember who your family is?
