Study finds link between coronavirus infection and suicidal thoughts in veterans | Stars & Stripes

Research published Wednesday indicated that veterans who had COVID-19 were more than twice as likely as those who had never had the condition to consider suicide during the coronavirus epidemic. The study, which was published in JAMA Psychiatry, found that veterans were less likely to have suicidal thoughts during the epidemic than they were before it. According to lead author Brandon Nichter, a Defense Department clinical psychologist, the study was “one of the first… to show an independent relationship between COVID-19 infection and suicidal ideation.”
