The director of the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy, Eike Schmidt, wants to get works of art in his email inbox because he is accustomed to seeing them on the walls.
After managing the museum housing masterpieces by Michelangelo and da Vinci for seven years, he has established rules for what is and isn’t appropriate in work emails by distributing, well, a company-wide email. Schmidt gave his justification for sending out his email tutorial to Corriere della Sera. Everyone needs to improve because there are many employees who write well and many who don’t, according to Schmidt. Everybody can think more clearly with the aid of good writing.
