It’s time to adjust your expectations regarding what new hires should contribute to a vacant position.
President Biden outlined his bold new idea in a State of the Union speech in February, which would put the federal government’s weight behind attempts to extend employment and recruitment efforts beyond those with college degrees. This current suggestion will be welcomed by many firms. Recruitment must be even more deliberate in today’s extremely competitive employment market. The Great Resignation is a once-in-a-generation chance for intelligent recruiting managers to do two things: adjust expectations for what new workers contribute to the job, and extend where they hunt for talent. Companies should not decrease their recruiting criteria in order to re-calibrate their hiring expectations. Companies must instead go beyond the traditional indicators of major, school, and past experience.
