An attack on an Egyptian army detachment in the Sinai Peninsula reportedly resulted in the death of a commando soldier
An ISIS suicide bomber detonated an explosive belt he was wearing on his body early on November 27, 2022 at the Al-Muthalath (Triangle) checkpoint of the Egyptian security forces close to the Suez Canal, roughly 3 km northeast of Al-Qantara. The Egyptian army and ISIS engaged in gunfire exchanges. There were two ISIS members murdered. ISIS’s escalation of activity in the area has the potential to harm Egypt’s economy and stymie international trade. Between November 17 and November 23, 2022, the group carried out 27 attacks in its many provinces around the world, according to a summary of its global operations.
