The Air Force’s Special Warfare Training Wing for the first time in branch history, hosted a SOF training “shura”, the Arabic word for consultation. Senior leaders from SOF commands met at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland over the course of 3 days last week to share pertinent information. Two of the most discussed topics at the conference were the criteria for recruitment and evaluation of operators and the incorporation of wearable technology designed to measure physical metrics. The Special Warfare Training Wing, which was first instituted in 2018, provides the initial training for all Air Force Special Warfare hopefuls including CCTs, PJs, Special Reconnaissance, and Tactical Air Control Party Airmen.
