Special forces soldier felt like he ‘flew through the air’ during near-death explosion | Daily Star

Must Read

David Glenn joined the US Army in 1996, by 2001 he had passed Special Forces selection and became a Green Beret. He is retired now, but he was deployed to Afghanistan in the wake of 9/11. On a joint mission with a French team near Kandahar he ran over an IED and was severely injured in the process. He remained conscious long enough to remember being boarded onto a medevac helicopter, but his next memory is waking up nearly a month later in Walter Reed Hospital. He had lost his right leg, his ring finger, 18 fractures, and damage to his left eye caused by shrapnel that penetrated all the way to his brain, but he was alive.
