With a budget of €1.5 million, the Spanish Navy has hired the German firm Heckler & Koch to supply its naval forces with HK416 A5 and HK417 20 assault rifles as well as GLM A1 grenade launchers.
The quantity of rifles and grenade launchers purchased is not specified in the contract that was published on the Contract Platform. The Logistics Support Headquarters of the Army’s Economic Management Directorate oversaw the transaction. The intention is to make this weapon available to other Marine Corps units. The HK416 A5 is a modular 5.56mm rifle with Picatinny rails on the front that serve as the primary attachment point for attachments including flashlights, grips, and laser pointers. Additionally, grenade launchers called GLM [Grenade Launcher Module] that can fire 40 mm projectiles will be given to the Spanish marines.
