At the Texas-Mexico border, an unlocked vehicle had a loaded M4 weapon.

At the Texas-Mexico border, a loaded M4 was left unsecured in an unlocked vehicle. Marianna Wright, whose Twitter profile indicates she is the National Butterfly Center executive director, posted the encounter on Twitter. “When they returned to the vehicle, the morons didn’t even recognize it was gone,” Wright said. The firearm was recovered by Border Patrol 45 minutes later. The news that a soldier abandoned an M4 on the U.S.-Mexico border sparked much discussion on Reddit.

“What they did was legitimately risky, yet a little part of me feels horrible for these guys,” said one individual. In the eyes of the military, losing your firearm is a grave offense. If a weapon is misplaced or lost, you may be sure someone will search for it until it is located.
