Soldier who died in Kabul attack belonged to 1st Special Forces Command | Army Times

The Thursday attack in Kabul killed 13 US troops and wounded at least 18 more. The US solider killed in the attack has been confirmed to be Staff Sgt. Ryan Knauss with 1st Special Forces Command. “Our teammate died not only serving our nation, but helping to give others a life of freedom and opportunity. The sacrifices made by our soldiers and families over the past 20 years were not in vain, and our mission in Afghanistan is not yet over.” Knauss was assigned to 9th Battalion, 8th Psychological Operations Group (Airborne). The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack and at least 70 Afghans were killed as well.
