Over the course of three helicopter raids in Syria, the U.S. military has detained six members of the Islamic State.
Al-Zubaydi, a senior ISIS leader who U.S. officials allege was involved in organizing and facilitating terrorist activities in the nation, was captured during the raids that took place over the previous 48 hours in eastern Syria. U.S. raids were carried out this week. In 2019, Special Operations forces and members of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) assisted American troops in driving out ISIS from Syria. According to the statement, preliminary analysis showed that no bystanders were killed or hurt. The U.S. military continues to collaborate with the SDF to block Islamic State militants from regaining control of northern Syria near the Turkish border.
