Second special forces unit created to fight against saboteurs in Belarus | Yahoo.com

Alexander Barsukov, assistant to the nation’s self-declared president and inspector of the city of Minsk, will be in charge of the second Rys (Lynx) special purpose unit. 

According to Ivan Kubrakov, Belarus’ minister of internal affairs, the decision to establish such units is a result of the conflict in Ukraine, domestic unrest that the government has managed to quell, and developments in Kazakhstan. He emphasized, “We chose to create special-purpose units in Minsk and after that in all regional centers to increase the combat capabilities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In order to combat sabotage and reconnaissance organizations, as well as unlicensed armed forces, Belarus established the Smerch special task force on December 5.
