Russian Wagner Commander Alexei Nagin was killed in the Donbass of Ukraine.
A top commander in Russia’s Wagner Group, a private military contractor allied to the Kremlin, has reportedly been killed in Ukraine by Kyiv’s army. WhereisRussiaToday, a website that tracks the Russian military, reports that on September 20, Alexei Nagin, was killed close to Bakhmut in Ukraine’s Donetsk province. After regular Russian soldiers incurred significant fatalities over the past few months, Wagner mercenaries have taken on a larger role in Ukraine. Yevgeny Prigozhin, the Russian oligarch who owns Wagner Group, was reportedly present at Nagin’s funeral in Volgograd, according to the Ukrainian news site obozrevatel.com. Because his catering company provided the meals for the Russian president’s dinners, Prigozhin is referred to as “Putin’s chef.”
