The British Ministry of Defence has disclosed information on the mercenary Wagner Group.
Sergei Kononov, the Battalion Commander of Russia’s 331st Guards Airborne Regiment, was killed in Ukraine. The soldier apparently served in Syria and Libya with the Wagner Group and was awarded the highest honor by President Bashar al-Assad of the Syrian Arab Republic. Wagner “very definitely played a significant part in recent battles, notably the seizure of Popasna and Lysychansk,” according to the UK Ministry of Defense.
According to intelligence authorities, Wagner is dropping recruiting requirements and employing convicted felons and previously banned persons. Additionally, the gang possesses its own guns, ammo, and military aircraft. In a Kyiv Post story, Aleksandra Klitina referred to the Wagner Group as “worse than Nazis.”
