To avoid Sanctions, Pro-Russian Paramilitary Groups Raise $400,000 in Bitcoin and Crypto, according to TRM Labs.

According to data from blockchain intelligence company TRM Labs, pro-Russian organizations are running crowdfunding campaigns and raising a significant sum in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies to get over U.S. sanctions and fund paramilitary operations in conflict-torn Ukraine. One of those organizations is “Task Force Rusich,” as the U.S. has referred to it, said Chris Janczewski, director of worldwide investigations at TRM Labs. “Task Force Rusich,” which is accused of committing horrific atrocities against Ukrainians, was sanctioned by the OFAC last month along with two of its leaders and five crypto addresses linked to the group, which the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) described as a “neo-Nazi paramilitary group that has participated in combat alongside Russia’s military in Ukraine.”
