Louis Lozano and Eric Mitchell were dismissed, according to court filings, for pursuing Pokémon rather than escaping thieves. When a radio broadcast arrived asking cops to react to a store burglary, the two were parked nearby. However, an examination of their in-car surveillance footage revealed that they were enjoying Pokémon Go and that instead of giving backup, they decided to pursue a nearby Snorlax – a rather unusual capture. Both police denied gaming while on duty, telling Officer Mitchell that they were reading aloud from a text group of other gamers boasting about their achievements.
