Following extensive audits, the Pentagon is collecting millions of dollars in overpaid wages, wasted cash, and defective repairs.
$13.2 million was recouped from private contractors who violated award rules. The bulk of the $13.9 million was recovered due to investigations into claims filed to the DOD Hotline. During that period, the hotline received almost 8,000 claims of malfeasance. Personnel issues, procurement, and contract administration followed with little room for mistakes.
