Operation Lone Star Stops Illegal Drugs Smuggled Across Border | The State of Texas Governor

Must Read

In order to secure the border, stop the smuggling of people, drugs, and weapons into Texas, and prevent, detect, and interdict transnational criminal activity between ports of entry, Governor Greg Abbott, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), and the Texas National Guard are continuing their collaboration.

Over 323,000 migrants have been apprehended since Operation Lone Star began, and there have been more than 21,600 criminal arrests and more than 19,200 felony charges filed as a result of the multi-agency effort. During this border campaign, DPS has removed approximately 350 million fatal doses of fentanyl from circulation. Since April, Texas has bused about 8,300 migrants to the nation’s capital, more than 3,700 to New York City since August 5, and more than 1,200 to Chicago. Our overburdened border communities are receiving much-needed help from the busing mission. The deadly vulnerabilities created by the Biden Administration’s failure to protect the border are still being filled by Operation Lone Star. Due to President Biden’s open border policy, every person who has been detained or arrested and every gram of drugs that has been confiscated would have otherwise entered communities across Texas and the country.
