Three teams from each of the technical departments of the Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) competed on May 20 for the coveted 2022 Technical Director’s Cup Challenge trophy after nearly a year of planning, designing, and production.
In order to complete each course’s unique set of obstacles, Departments A – Littoral and Mine Warfare, E – Expeditionary and Maritime Systems, and X – Science and Technology – are required to build autonomous vehicles. Teams competing for the Director’s Cup are made up of recent graduates with fewer than five years of professional experience in NSWC PCD. Teams have the chance to improve their critical thinking abilities and acquire knowledge necessary to further the Department of the Navy’s efforts in research, development, testing, and evaluation through the competition.
