Must Read

On Tuesday morning, the government of Japan activated its J-Alert system for inhabitants in the nation’s northeastern Aomori prefecture and Hokkaido, its northernmost main island.

Launch appears to be the first missile the North has fired over Japanese border since 2017. In an apparent escalation of recent nuclear tests by Kim Jong-regime, un’s North Korea has shot an intermediate-range ballistic missile over northern Japan for the first time in five years, leading the government to advise citizens to seek cover from falling debris. Yoon Suk-yeol, the president of South Korea, issued a “resolute” warning following the launch, according to the Yonhap news agency. According to Yoon and Yonhap, the missile traveled around 4,000 kilometers. Guam, a US territory in the Pacific, is within striking reach at that range. The government of Japan swiftly rebuked the launch, calling it a “threat to regional security.”
