US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) has placed a $17.67 million IDIQ order with Nightforce USA for Squad-Variable Powered Scopes (S-VPS) and Precision-Variable Power Scopes (P-VPS).
The DoD announced on 3 October that Nightforce will offer S-VPS and P-VPS in both conventional and long-range versions. The deal would satisfy the full operating capability (FOC) requirements for all U components. The long-range model is a military version of the ATACR 7-35-56, while P-VPS Standard is a military-grade version of the Nightforce ATACR 5-25-56 precise direct-view optic. For USSOCOM, P-VPS offers continuously adjustable magnification with a range of 3x to less than or equal to 7x and greater than or equal to 25x continuous zoom. S-VPS is a Nightforce ATACR 1-8×24 that meets military standards. The scope functions as both a red dot sight and a scope with a 1X magnification and daylight-visible reticle illumination.
