Video of the 2017 Tongo Tongo ambush was quietly recovered during a French operation to kill an ISIS-GS subcommander this past summer. The mothers of Sgt. 1st Class Jeremiah Johnson and Staff Sgt. Dustin Wright say the footage of the two soldiers standing and defending their fallen teammate, Staff Sgt. Bryan Black, as dozens of enemy combatants approached and fired on their position, is more than enough evidence to warrant an upgrade to their combat medals. The events leading up to the ambush of Operational Detachment Alpha 3212 and the subsequent shifting of blame are detailed in ABC News James Gordon Meek’s new documentary 3212-UNREDACTED.
