The official opening of the new Specialist Capabilities Building in Southern Tasmania today is welcomed by the Rockliff Liberal Government, which is dedicated to assisting Tasmania Police and safeguarding our community.
In addition to the $1.4 million already committed in our Special Operations Group to safeguard Tasmanians’ safety, this $3.6 million investment was sponsored by the Tasmanian government. Special Operations Group personnel are highly skilled tactical cops with specialized training who are prepared to handle a variety of security circumstances, according to Minister Ellis. The Tasmanian Government is also spending $8.9 million to hire extra officers for the Tasmania Police’s Special Operations Group. This project will be finished by the middle of 2024.
