In honor of the almost 3,000 victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and those slain in the years that followed, members of the Army’s 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne) bent their heads on Friday.
Members of the 7th Group served for 20 years in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom after September 11, 2001. Additionally, a 9/11 memorial run and service are done each year in their honor by the troops, relatives, and graduates of the 7th Group. Dennis Castellanos, command chief warrant officer of the 7th Special Forces Group, remarked, “We must remember the 9/11 generation that has shouldered the security of our nation. America’s warrior class that for over 20 years sacrificed all in the name of freedom.
