Navy SEALs new underwater stealth vehicle? | Defense News

Must Read

The SDV Mark 11 is a much-improved version of the original SEAL delivery vehicle, recognized for its performance and dependability in adverse ocean conditions.

At the Special Operations Forces Industry Conference in Tampa, Florida, in May, “Military Times” and “Navy Defense News” received an early glimpse at some of the newest products. The Mark VIII, a long-serving SEAL delivery truck, is being replaced. The SDV Mark 11 features a more robust, digitally-capable watercraft that can connect to all of this 21st-century technology. Navy Spec Ops Maritime is requesting that the industry provide underwater communications equipment. Depending on their body mass, a combat diver enters the water weighing around 400 pounds at 2:30 p.m. Divers crammed into lock-in/lock-out chambers aboard a submarine or other possibilities may be left with limited, inflexible options as a result.

In the coming decade, the Ohio-class submarines, these nuclear subs from which the SEALs have launched their vehicles for decades, will approach their end of service: This is either a new method for submersible insertion or a 2:50-replacement for the submerged Special Ops team. Contractors at Vigor Works LLC and SOFSA/Lockheed Martin are delivering new surface gunboats for the Navy’s special operations force. The 3:29 boats will be equipped with machine guns, drones, and maybe a remotely-operated machine gun on the bow.
